I was working in a very good position in a banking company where I was supposed to provide life insurance cover to people. When I was in college, I never thought that I would be doing this business. I always wanted to become a navy officer and serve my country but because I could not pass the entrance exam, I was not selected. However, I thought that I should look for something else where I would be good at and I found that I can persuade anyone to buy a stuff and this is why I decided to join the finance industry where I would be able to draw handsome salary and will also get job satisfaction. Ultimately what I wanted in my life was job satisfaction and wanted to do something which would please me and make me feel that I am good at it. Selling life insurance cover was not at all an easy job. It required good communication skill, complete knowledge of the stuff you would be selling and to always keep ourselves abreast with all the latest updates. Out of these, the last 2 things can be achieved quite easily. The information or the knowledge an insurance agent requires can be achieved online over the internet but the most important and crucial of them is having good communication skill and good convincing skill. If you have these two skills, it becomes easy for an insurance agent to get good business for his company.

When I first joined my company and was asked to sell life insurance cover, I made plenty of mistakes and eventually lost the sale. I was helped by my friend Nigel who was into general insurance, taught me professionalism and the proper way to interact with people. It took some time for me to learn everything but I always made sure that I meet more and more people so that I can interact with them so that I can learn to sell life insurance cover to people. For the first 2 months I was not able to sell any life insurance cover and I was also asked to leave the company. This made me really sad but I was once again helped by Nigel as we worked in the same company and he managed to keep me with him. After getting proper help by Nigel, I saw a change in my career graph. It was indeed moving in an upward direction and I was given many achievement awards by my company. Today, I am working in the same company and in a higher position. I am also happy to get such a supportive friend like Nigel.
